Kathy and I headed out to see Edinburgh Castle. We were distracted by many shops along the way, but finally made it up the hill.
The Castle provided spectacular views of the city and beyond. It was clear why it was built in such a strategic location. The castle was the home of Mary, Queen of Scots, and the birthplace of King James VI. It houses the Honours of Scotland (the nation's crown jewels). It has a long a varied history. I particulary liked touring the part of the castle used to keep captured sailors, including American sailors. The castle houses three military museums. It is also used today for special state dinners.
